What is Hokkaido University Festival?

International students serve delicious food from their countries

The Hokkaido University Festival is made up of 10 festivals held by each faculty and department of Hokkaido University (Yuryō Festival, Humanities Festival, Science Festival, Engineering Festival, Medical Exhibition, Dentistry Festival, Pharmaceutical Festival, Veterinary Medicine Festival, Agriculture Festival, and International Food Festival). A variety of events will be held in one place on the vast Sapporo campus, which boasts a total area of 1.78 million square meters, including the Yuryō Festival, where first-year students and club groups set up stalls, the Faculty and Department Festivals, where research presentations and projects that make use of the characteristics of each faculty and department are held, and the International Food Festival (IFF), where you can enjoy unique dishes from each country created by international students.

In 2024, the Hokkaido University Festival will attract a record 118,000 visitors. This year's theme is "Colorful Clouds." Colored clouds are said to be auspicious and are known as "clouds that bring happiness." In recent years, the theme has taken its Latin origins, but the hope is that it will bring new color and become a symbol of the diversity of the Hokkaido University Festival.
