岩見沢特産であるお米を使った岩見沢市最大のお祭り。直径約2ｍ、重さ約5トンの世界最大級の大臼を用いた餅つきは迫力満点。毎年人気の小学生以下を対象にした餅つき体験、各日のラストは長寿を祈念した餅まきも行われます。
百餅市は、お祭り期間中に百餅祭りを一層盛り上げるべく栄通りを開放（飲食・物販ブース）し、来場者の方へ楽しんでいただくスペースとなります。
