"Court Installation" is a series of installations utilizing the Tomakomai Museum of Art's courtyard exhibition space. This year's exhibition, the 20th in the series, presents a new work by Takuji Nishida (1983-), who uses existing images as materials while creating works with vivid colors.
In this exhibition, titled "lost treasure," Nishida presents a new installation consisting of countless piles of yellow plastic container boxes and other objects that form an image of a castle or crown. For Nishida, the act of quoting and constructing colorful ready-made objects for consumption originates from his original childhood experience, namely the urge to search for and hold on to "lost treasure," and symbolizes his own daily routine of repeated "copy and paste. The work also symbolizes his daily routine of "copying and pasting. On the other hand, the vivid colors of the plastic also include a sense of lightness and pop, as well as the fragility and danger of the objects of consumption that lie behind them. We hope you will take this opportunity to experience the insights into consumer society and reminiscences of childhood that are temporarily embedded in Nishida's colorful and pop art world.
