Red pines in a pine forest in Rikuzentakata, Japan, washed away by the tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011.
In December 2017, only one black pine tree survived the tsunami, but finally ran out of strength and was cut down in Minamisoma-Kashima.
This is a time to be surrounded by the sounds of love flutes (Native American vertical flutes) made from these trees and the simple sounds of wooden flutes made by people who care about Tohoku.
