Overview

A seasonal winter event at Lake Toro is ice fishing for smelt. At Lake Toro, located in the Kushiro Marshlands, you can enjoy ice fishing by drilling a hole in the thick ice of the lake from early January. All equipment is included in the rental, so you can participate empty-handed. You can also eat the smelt you catch as fried chicken at the rest house. Even if you are a beginner at smelt fishing, you can rest assured as you will be given instruction.
