Also known as the "Sapporo Festival," this festival has a history of over 100 years and is loved by locals. At the "Mikoshi Togyo" held on the 16th, over 1,000 locals dressed in colorful costumes reminiscent of picture scrolls from the Heian period parade through the city with eight floats, centered around four mikoshi carrying the deities of Hokkaido Shrine.
The procession starts from Hokkaido Shrine in Maruyama and passes through the center of the city. In the afternoon, there is a time for the unveiling of the portable shrines and floats on Odori Street, attracting many locals. At Hokkaido Shrine, food stalls are set up and traditional dedication ceremonies are held, and many food stalls and haunted houses are set up in Nakajima Park.
