Date and Time
2025/7/6
9:30~14:40
We will be holding a tour of Shin-Katsurazawa & Mikasa Ponbetsu Dam. You will visit Shin-Katsurazawa Dam and Mikasa Ponbetsu Dam, which is currently under construction. These dams were built using rocks from strata that are approximately 100 million years old. On the tour, you will visit a museum to gain a deeper understanding of the strata, and then you will visit the quarry where the rocks were quarried to build the dams, and see the strata that are approximately 100 million years old.
Additionally, the "inspection gallery," a management passageway inside the embankments of Haraishiyama, Mikasa Ponbetsu Dam, and Shin-Katsurazawa Dam, is a geotour-only spot that is not normally open to the public.
■ Capacity: 38 people
*If there are more than 20 participants, we will split into two groups and take turns to visit each dam. We cannot specify the order of the tours. Thank you for your understanding.
