Insects are some of the most familiar creatures to us.
When we think of insect exhibitions, most of them are related to entomology and biology, showcasing the diversity of insects and strange and bizarre specimens. The "Humanistic Insect Exhibition" is an exhibition that introduces insects as a theme in literature, paintings, myths, proverbs, etc., as well as the insects themselves and their relationship to people.
In this exhibition,
"Hermann Hesse - Memories of Boyhood"
"Merrian's 3D Atlas of Insects"
"Myths, Constellations, and Insect Names"
"Hokkaido University Entomologist and His Books"
It consists of four parts:
The creator of the exhibit, Kosuke Niibe (Marronnier Insectarium), has been vigorously holding "Humanistic Insect Exhibitions" across the country since 2017. Many of the exhibitions are also held in libraries, and the exhibition is highly regarded as a good example of museum-library collaboration.
