This event began in October 2009 to promote the Rikubetsu Railway, a tourist attraction in Rikubetsu Town. At the eve of the festival, fireworks co-sponsored by the Tokachi Mainichi Newspaper Company will light up the summer night sky of Rikubetsu Town. At the main festival, you can take a special train experience ride that is only available at this event.

■ Eve of the festival
The fireworks festival, co-hosted by the Rikubetsu Town Tourism Association and the Tokachi Mainichi Newspaper Company, will feature approximately 1,500 fireworks, lighting up the summer night sky! In addition, a special train will be operated to coincide with the fireworks festival, allowing passengers to watch the fireworks from inside the diesel railcar. Local specialties will also be given away as gifts. Other events include a street performance stage show and backyard music concerts.
■Main Festival
Popular comedians from Yoshimoto Kogyo (Total Tembos and Skinhead Camera) will appear on stage at the festival! The comedy stage performance is sure to make you laugh out loud, so it's definitely worth seeing. In addition, the special train experience ride, which usually only operates within the station premises, will be extended to Hyakukoi Station on the outskirts of the station as a special train exclusive to this event. Other events planned include horse riding, a big raffle, and a dance performance (by children from Rikubetsu Elementary School). Various shops will also be set up.
