The name "Arausu Banzai" comes from the wine festival (pronounced "sai" in Japanese) around Mt. Usu, and also conveys the meaning of "banzai" (cheers) as everyone rejoices in the abundant wine and food of the Mt. Usu area.

Recently, the number of wine grape producers has been increasing around Mount Usu. Because it takes several years from planting the grape seedlings to producing wine, there aren't many brands available at the moment, but in a few years, many wines will be produced in this area.
