A walk around Abashiri Onsen

Date and Time

2025/10/11

13:30-15:30

Public baths were an essential part of daily life in the Showa era. This historical walk will take you around the places where public baths once stood, while talking about the changes that have taken place in the town of Abashiri. This is an event that allows you to casually learn about the history of the town of Abashiri, so it is recommended for first-time participants as well. After the event, you will also be able to take a bath at Tokiwayu, a long-established public bathhouse that has been operating since 1932 (bathing is free for participants of the event). Participants who have never experienced a public bath are also welcome to participate.

After walking around Abashiri's history, you can refresh yourself at the bathhouse and soothe your fatigue with a bottle of milk. (Bathing is optional after the event. If you choose to bathe, please bring your own towel, soap, and other necessary items.)

*This is a historical walk through the town to see the remains of former public baths. Please note that this is not an event where you will actually take a bath.
