The Chitose Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival is an ice festival held at Lake Shikotsu Hot Springs in Shikotsu-Toya National Park, about a 40-minute drive from Sapporo. The festival features a row of ice sculptures made by spraying water from Lake Shikotsu, one of the clearest in Japan, onto the ice. The hot springs around the venue are also open for day trips, so after warming up, you can enjoy a meal and souvenir shopping in the hot spring town.
