Japanese macaques bathing in hot springs at Hakodate Tropical Botanical Garden is one of the winter sights in Hakodate. Hot spring water is brought into the Monkey Mountain pool only from December 1st until the Golden Week holidays in spring. The adorable expressions and gestures of the monkeys warming themselves in the hot water to escape the cold, wind and snow outdoors are praised for their humorous and cute nature. You can observe them up close at any time during the park's opening hours (entrance fee required).
