The Higashikawa Ice Festival is held every year on the third weekend of January. An ice sculpture contest is held at the venue, Hagoromo Park, where participants compete to complete beautiful ice sculptures within a limited time of 24 hours. The snow sculpture contest, where each group creates their own sculpture, and the mini snowmen and ice lanterns that decorate the area around the venue are also worth seeing.

The fireworks display held on the first night attracts many visitors who come to watch the fireworks sparkle in the clear night sky. Another attraction is the food stalls where you can enjoy drinks to warm you up in the cold outdoors and delicious snacks.
