It's back again this year! Akapla Picnic Cinema!

In the still slightly chilly month of May, we're kicking off Hokkaido's outdoor cinema season with a screening event at Akapla (Sapporo Kita 3-jo Plaza)!

This year, we've powered up to a two-day event on May 15 (Fri) and 16 (Sat).
Additionally, a 'One-Box Secondhand Book Market' and food trucks will be there, making it a market event where you can enjoy books and movies. 📚

We will be screening two masterpieces from our special selection of 'bear movies': 'Brigsby Bear' & 'Paddington'.

You can bring your own food and drinks. There will also be kitchen cars! (*Only on the 16th (Sat))
Why not spread out a picnic blanket and enjoy an early picnic feeling? 🌿

【What is Akapla Picnic Cinema?】
A 200-inch screen will appear at Akapla, turning it into an outdoor cinema for two days only. You are free to bring your own drinks and food. You can also enjoy take-out from the kitchen cars or nearby restaurants. Please bring picnic blankets or outdoor chairs and enjoy the screening picnic-style. There is also a fluffy artificial turf area. We recommend dressing warmly!

【What is the One-Box Secondhand Book Market?】
It's a small book market where vendors bring and sell about one cardboard box full of books. You'll find secondhand books selected by each vendor, as well as heartfelt zines. The charm is in discovering an unexpected book. Meet books, meet people. We offer a day to enjoy such serendipitous encounters.

'Brigsby Bear'

A comedy-drama about the turmoil that ensues when a 25-year-old man, who was kidnapped as a baby and raised by his fake parents watching only the educational show 'Brigsby Bear' they produced, steps into the outside world for the first time. The protagonist's adoptive father is played by Mark Hamill of the 'Star Wars' series.

The first live-action film adaptation of the British children's literature classic 'Paddington,' which has been translated in over 40 countries and sold more than 35 million copies since its first publication in 1958. It is a popular series with three films made to date. The director is Paul King, known for 'Wonka'. The voice of Paddington in the dubbed version is provided by Tori Matsuzaka.

*You can reserve a spot in the artificial turf area at any time. (The artificial turf area is scheduled to be set up at 16:00.)
*We recommend bringing a picnic blanket.
*You may also bring folding chairs. Please avoid placing them on the artificial turf and use them at the back of the area out of consideration for guests behind you.
