Yasuhiro Kojima
Born in Tokyo in 1977, currently based in Berlin. After graduating from Kokugakuin University's Faculty of Letters with a major in Traditional Literature, and working for five and a half years, he moved to the United States in 2006. He graduated from the ICP (International Center of Photography) General
Studies Program. While enrolled, he received the ICP Directors Scholarship Award. In 2011, he participated in the Agency for Cultural Affairs' Program of Overseas Study for Upcoming Artists. In 2012, he was selected for Photo Espana's "Descubrimiento photoespaña". In 2015, he participated in the artist-in-residence program at Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin. In 2022, he won the Grand Prize at the Hariban Award 2022. Recent solo exhibitions include "Naka-ima | Berlin" (Daitoku-ji Oubai-in, 2023), "Naka-ima | Berlin" (Yuka Tsuruno Gallery, 2021), "Unconscious | Berlin" (Place M, 2020), "Unconscious | New York, Tokyo" (Yuka Tsuruno Gallery, 2019), "Unconscious | Berlin" (Akio Nagasawa Gallery Aoyama, 2019), "Berlin" (Ginza Nikon Salon, 2017), "Tokyo" (Ginza Nikon Salon, 2016), and "Tokyo | Berlin" (Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin, 2016). Group exhibitions include "TOP Collection: Reading the Image, The Time of Photography" (Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, 2019), and "Tokyo・TOKYO: Exhibition of Japanese Emerging Artists vol.13" (Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, 2016), among others. His works are in the permanent collections of the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum and the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts. He has published three photobooks: "Comingback" from Super Labo in 2013, "NEW YORK" from Sokyu-sha in 2014, and "Tokyo" in 2015.
