There is a growing number of films that should be shown in theaters but are not screened in Sapporo due to the limited number of screens.
"mado cinema" is a one-day-only screening event that brings such films to the public.

For our third event, we will be screening the acclaimed film 'All Shall Be Well,' which is currently being released sequentially nationwide, including at Theater Image Forum in Tokyo!

'All Shall Be Well' is a Hong Kong film that depicts the inheritance and family issues faced by a same-sex couple.
The legal situation regarding the rights of same-sex couples, including same-sex marriage, is similar in Japan and Hong Kong, and we hope many people in Sapporo will see this film.

A quiet yet powerful protest against an unjust society.

[About the Film]
A drama depicting a long-term lesbian couple who face various problems after the sudden death of one partner. Director Ray Yeung, who has previously explored the issues of aging gay couples, highlights not only the strong prejudice against homosexuality that remains in Hong Kong but also serious social issues such as housing shortages, employment difficulties, and economic disparity.

[STORY] Pat and Angie, a lesbian couple in their 60s, live a peaceful life together until Pat's sudden death. Angie clashes with Pat's family over the funeral arrangements and, due to Hong Kong law, the inheritance goes to Pat's brother. The film portrays the conflict between Angie, who faces the crisis of losing their cherished apartment, and her brother's family, who have their own circumstances.
