During the full bloom season, the entire venue is enveloped in the sweet fragrance of wisteria. Also, a wisteria festival is held every June. It all started in 1945 when the head priest of Koseiji Temple received a single wisteria tree, and after that, he steadily continued to increase them by grafting, receiving stocks, and in 1961, by ordering saplings from Kyoto. Today, it has become a 1000-meter wisteria trellis with about 200 plants, and is popular as the best wisteria garden in Hokkaido.
