At Wasshoi Hakodate, the traditional 'Minato Odori' (Part 1), which has been danced since the Hakodate Port Festival began in 1935 (Showa 10), and the 'Summer Carnival' (Part 2), which enlivens the parade with free-form choreography and elaborate costumes, will be held. The 'Ika Odori' (Squid Dance) (Part 3), which is danced at the Hakodate Port Festival and other events, originated from conversations among friends gathered at restaurants in the city, and has now become a dance that symbolizes Hakodate.
