When you arrive at the downtown area of Kamiokobe, you will see Mt. Since the pioneer days, the local people have long been familiar with and loved this 992.7-meter-high mountain, as they could tell the day's weather by the clouds hanging over the mountain, or quickly learn the changes in the seasons by the changing vegetation on the mountain's surface.
Today, however, no one climbs the mountain because the mountain trail has not been maintained, but the first mountain climbing party was held in 1926, and in 1932, a trail was established by the then Koube Forest Office. Mt. Futsuname, towering with lingering snow in front of the village ranch, is a very elegant and beautiful spot.
