Umemura Teien and Baiun-tei
Umemura Teien and Baiun-tei are parks and rest facilities open to everyone. Umemura Teien is designated as a cultural asset by Yakumo Town, and was acquired and maintained by Yakumo Town through the courtesy of the Umemura family, and is used by many people. The garden includes Baiun-tei, a rest facility, and the former Umemura Residence's detached house and storehouse.
The garden is a pond garden, with a pond at the center filled with spring water that never dries up. Around the pond are carefully laid out mountains and dry landscapes. There are also concrete lanterns, which were rare when the garden was built.
In the park, there are various azaleas such as Murasaki azalea, Renge azalea, Yamatsutsuji, Satsuki, Kurume azalea, Ryukyu azalea, Doudan azalea, Yodogawa azalea, yew (Onko), Ezo yamazakura, Someiyoshino, red pine, maple, and Japanese spindle tree, violet, katabami, and others, The area is also planted with flowers and grasses such as violets, katabami, rhododendrons, kan-aoi, and narcissus, allowing visitors to enjoy the scenery from season to season.
