SPOT
Ten thousand li long wall・cherry blossom's hill park
The Great Wall, which reached its completion in 2000, has been piled up one by one by human hands over a period of 15 years from 1986.
The stones being used are, surprisingly, over 150,000 pieces. A service where names, etc., could be carved was also being offered (currently suspended), but the stones on which everyone from outside the town, outside the prefecture, and overseas left their footprints have become over 125,000 pieces.
The original China's "Great Wall" was built in order to prevent entry from outside, but Shimokawa's Great Wall is a townspeople's handmade tourist spot that was built in order for everyone to come and enjoy.
