Maruyama Park, home of the katakuris
Maruyama Park is adjacent to Maruyama-dera Temple, the 14th sacred site of the 33 Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) in Hokkaido, and is home to a monument to the poet Kitahara Hakushu, who visited here.
In early May, just after the snow melts, the flowers of katakuris fill Maruyama Park.
Although the katakuris can be seen for only about a week, we will post information on their blooming status as needed during this period.
You can also feed the carp from the pier at Masuonuma Swamp in the park, and there is also a monument to a poem by Kitahara Hakushu, who visited Maruyama Park.
