A cape of dragon legends and a hot spring of world-class rarity

Population:700
Kamoenai Village is located in the southwestern part of the Shakotan Peninsula and is surrounded by beautiful forests. The name comes from the Ainu word "Kamuy-nay," meaning "beautiful divine stream," which also implies "a mysterious stream with steep terrain, difficult for people to approach." True to its name, the village has many mystical tourist spots, including the unique "Madoiwa" (Window Rock), the sacred site "Sai no Kawara," and "Ryujin Misaki" (Dragon God Cape), which is associated with a dragon god legend.
Another attraction is its hot spring, which is rare even in the world, featuring a salt concentration 1.3 times that of seawater and a water quality containing carbon dioxide gas.
