On Friday, July 25, 2025, Sapporo's iconic summer event, the "Doshin UHB Fireworks Festival," will take place. This festival, featuring approximately 4,000 fireworks, is currently the only free fireworks display held along the Toyohira River, making it a highly anticipated event for many residents. The "Doshin UHB Fireworks Festival" is a well-loved event, affectionately known by locals as the "Toyohira River Fireworks Festival." While there used to be several fireworks displays along Sapporo's Toyohira River, since 2010, the Doshin UHB Fireworks Festival has been the only one. This year, it will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 7:40 PM to 8:30 PM. Approximately 4,000 fireworks will light up the Sapporo night sky. In case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed to Wednesday, July 30.

Like last year, the 2025 festival will be divided into three parts: "Summer Night Carnival," "Dreaming Night," and the "Grand Finale." Each segment will feature fireworks with a different theme, captivating the audience. The Grand Finale, in particular, is a breathtaking spectacle with a massive, simultaneous launch of fireworks.

The main viewing area is along the Toyohira River riverbed, between Toyohira Bridge and Minami 19-jo Ohashi Bridge. The Odori side of the riverbed, accessible from Nakajima Koen Station and Horohira Bashi Station on the Namboku subway line, is close to the launch site and is therefore very popular and tends to get crowded every year. Conversely, the area on the Toyohira-ku side, between Minami Ohashi Bridge and Horohira Bridge, is typically less crowded than the Odori side.

From tall structures like the Sapporo TV Tower and JR Tower, you can enjoy the fireworks along with a panoramic night view of Sapporo. The areas around Munich Ohashi Bridge and in the Naebo direction are a bit farther away but are hidden gems for watching the fireworks. Additionally, AEON MALL Sapporo Naebo in the Naebo area hosts an event where they open their rooftop for fireworks viewing.

There is no dedicated parking, so please use public transportation. Nakajima Koen and Horohira Bashi stations on the Namboku Line are expected to be very crowded, and controlled entry measures will be in place, requiring detours from a certain time. This means direct access from the stations to the riverbed will be restricted. When using the subway, consider using Hosui Susukino or Gakuen Mae stations on the Toho Line, or Nakanoshima Station on the Namboku Line, although they are slightly farther away.

Furthermore, traffic restrictions will be in effect around the Toyohira River on the day of the event. The restrictions will be in place from around 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM, and roads such as Toyohira Bridge, Minami 19-jo Ohashi Bridge, Kikusui Asahiyama Koen Dori, and Minami 7-jo Ohashi Bridge will be closed to traffic.
