Heartwarming Scenes from Nature: Asahikawa's Farmlands and More [Hokkaido Future Note (70)]

“Hokkaido Future Note” is a project that collects photos of Hokkaido scenery to be cherished for the future.
From the wonderful photos of Hokkaido taken and submitted by all of you, we're excited to share three handpicked posts again this time!

Agricultural Landscape (Asahikawa City)

This is a farming scene from my hometown where I was born and raised. Here, the unchanging, gentle smiles of the farm mothers and the sun-drenched warmth that soothes a weary heart are gifts from the great outdoors.

This is a photo that warms the heart and brings a sense of peace amidst Hokkaido's magnificent nature 📷
The gentle flow of time and the kindness of the farmers really shine through.
Seeing this landscape might make the farm produce taste even more delicious!

Ezo Stoat in its Summer Coat (Biei Town)

The Ezo stoat is a rare sight.
Despite its cute face, it's a fierce hunter, and its quick movements made it difficult to photograph.
For a moment, it looked at me with its big, round eyes.

An adorable photo capturing the Ezo stoat looking right at the camera 📷
When this was taken, it still had its two-toned brown and white summer coat, but in winter, it turns pure white!
Spotting a rare Ezo stoat might just be a sign of good luck.

Shining Chum Salmon (Esashi Town)

I love fishing for chum salmon in the fall.
This is the best one I caught at my favorite fishing spot. I'm grateful for the bounty of nature.

Chum salmon is an essential autumn delicacy in Hokkaido! What a magnificent catch!
These are called 'akiazake' (autumn salmon) because they return in the fall to the rivers where they were born to spawn.
In contrast, the rare salmon that mistakenly return during spring or summer are called 'tokishirazu,' meaning 'unaware of time.'
Some places sell tasting sets, so be sure to try them and taste the difference 🐟
