Shiromaru Asuka ( @Asuka_Shiromaru ), who is based in Wakkanai, the northernmost city in Japan, and publishes the manga "Shiromaru's Northernmost Diary," makes it a daily habit to tweet "This morning's Northernmost Clown" and upload images on Twitter and Instagram.

This is McDonald's No. 40 Wakkanai store in Wakkanai, Hokkaido. Known as "the northernmost McDonald's in Japan," there is a bench outside the restaurant, and the sight of the mascot "Donald" sitting leisurely on it has become a familiar "famous landmark" to many people.

However, those seemingly eternal days suddenly came to an end. One day, when Asuka Shiromaru was about to update with "This morning's northernmost clown," she was at a loss for words and wrote, "This morning's northernmost clown..."

Donald, who is always there, is gone! Where on earth has he gone?

The Domingo editorial team decided to contact McDonald's Japan.

--Where on earth has Donald gone?

Repairs are currently underway and are expected to be completed around July 15th.

--The Donald image in this store is loved by many people, but why is it placed here in the first place?

We are very pleased that Donald is a beloved presence in the local community. To help people feel familiar with McDonald's as a local restaurant, we have erected a commemorative Donald Bench along with a Golden Arches at Wakkanai store No. 40, the northernmost McDonald's.

Thank you McDonald's Japan! Those who were worried about its whereabouts can now rest easy.

Donald from McDonald's No. 40 Wakkanai store was suddenly gone, and it made us realize just how important he is to us. Please come and see him again when he comes back from repairs!
