The 72nd Tanuki Festival, held at Sapporo's Tanukikoji Shopping Street, began on Friday, July 18th this year, but the highlight is the Night Bargain Sale on Saturday, July 26th! Each block will have its own unique event, with 200 yen beer, festival stalls, children's events, raffles, and more, packed with fun for the whole family. Additionally, on Saturday, August 2nd, the Tanuki Hachitoku Annual Festival will be held, featuring the appearance of tanuki mikoshi (portable shrines). This is a must-see event where you can fully enjoy the summer in Sapporo.

The Tanuki Festival, held every summer in Tanukikoji Shopping Street, is a historic event that is now in its 72nd year. The arcade is decorated with lanterns and other decorations, and the entire shopping street is enveloped in festival mode. The main events are the Night Bargains (from 5:00 PM on July 26th) held in each block, and the Tanuki Hachitoku Annual Festival (August 2nd), where a portable shrine is paraded through the streets. It is a Sapporo summer tradition that is hugely popular with local residents and tourists alike.

This event is a must-see for the Tanuki Festival! The "Night Bargain Sale" will be held from 5:00 PM on Saturday, July 26th, and will take place in each area from Tanukikoji 1-chome to 7-chome, with unique events such as a festival, live music, a raffle, 200 yen beer and 50 yen coke, and more. There will also be stalls from various restaurants in Tanukikoji, as well as the annual bargain sale! There will be a wide variety of events that can be enjoyed by both children and adults.

Tanukikoji 1-chome: Drink, eat, and enjoy live music! (From 5:00 PM)

The Tanukikoji 1-chome food stalls, a night bargain specialty, will be back. They'll be packed with delicious food, including beer, sake, yakisoba, frankfurters, and edamame! There will also be street performances by musicians.

Tanukikoji 2-chome: Park Golf Tournament! (Starting at 5:00 PM)

We will be holding a park golf event that can be enjoyed by everyone, from adults to children! It costs 100 yen per round (2 balls) and if you hit the ball into the cup, you will be awarded with luxurious prizes.

Tanukikoji 3-chome: Annual Can Picking Contest and Mini-Festival! (From 5:00 PM)

Participation fees start from 100 yen per session. Those who score the highest will receive a luxurious prize.

Tanukikoji 4-chome: Drink and eat at 4-chome! (From 13:00)

Food stalls offering charcoal-grilled steaks and steaming hot takoyaki balls, where you can stop by with a drink in hand, are on the rise.

Tanukikoji 5-chome: 200 yen beer & 50 yen cola (from 5:00 PM)

Sapporo Classic is available for just 200 yen per glass! Other Coca-Cola products, such as cola, orange juice, and grape juice, are also available for just 50 yen!

Tanukikoji 6-chome: Fresh Food Gacha Festival 500 yen Big Raffle! (From 5:00 PM)

A gacha lottery will be held where you can win Hokkaido-grown rice Yumepirika, melon, or watermelon! Draft beer will be available for 200 yen per glass, with refills for 100 yen. As a pre-event, a rice cake pounding competition will be held twice, at 15:00 and 16:00. (Cooperation: Furen Town, Nayoro City)

Tanukikoji 7-chome: Famous delicious food stalls, great deals, and fun live performances in front of stores! (Opening in order as stores become ready)

There will be stalls from each unique store, free items for sale from retail stores, and a live jazz performance in front of the Suntory Jigger Bar.

Then, on Saturday, August 2nd, the "Tanuki Hachitoku Annual Festival" will be held. Tanuki drum performances and children's mikoshi and tanuki mikoshi will parade through the streets inside and outside Tanukikoji Arcade.
