During Hokkaido's short summer, sipping beer or wine under the blue sky is exceptional! We've carefully selected some noteworthy beer garden and wine events taking place throughout the prefecture, including Sapporo, Otaru, Tomamu, and Furano. Use this information to plan your summer 2025 sightseeing and outings.

1 Over 10,000 seats! Japan's largest beer garden, "Sapporo Odori Beer Garden" (Sapporo City)

Known as a summer tradition in Sapporo, this is the largest beer garden in Japan. There are six venues from West 5-chome to West 11-chome in Odori Park, each with its own unique atmosphere and beer to enjoy. From 5-chome to 8-chome, four beer makers offer a variety of beers and gourmet food based on their own concepts. You can also taste international beers at 10-chome, and authentic German beer and food at 11-chome.

2 Enjoy beer, meat, and baseball at F Village "The☆HOKKAIDO BEER GARDEN in F VILLAGE" (Kitahiroshima City)

The first beer garden at Hokkaido Ballpark F Village has opened. Enjoy the Hokkaido-exclusive Sapporo Classic with delicious meat dishes from the "Hokkaido Meat Festival in F VILLAGE 2025" being held at the same time. You can also watch Fighters games on the large screen at the venue.

3 The Summer, an open rooftop beer garden inspired by California (Sapporo)

The beer garden held on the rooftop of Sapporo PARCO is an open space where you can enjoy an open-air atmosphere like you're on the west coast of California. Choose from a variety of stylish atmospheres, including the "Waterside Table" area, which gives you a resort-like feel, or the luxurious and elegant rooftop "Vacances" area.

4 A lineup of popular breweries! The only craft beer event in the Kushiro region, "CRAFT BEER RIVERSIDE '25" (Kushiro City)

Five carefully selected breweries from around the country will be participating, including Brasserie Knot from Tsurui Village and Hop Kotan from Kamifurano Town. Over the course of four days, you can enjoy a total of over 50 types of carefully selected craft beer. With a comfortable summer climate with an average temperature of 20 degrees, this is a beer event that will satisfy everyone from beginners to beer lovers.

5 The only place in Odori Park where you can enjoy Genghis Khan: Sapporo TV Tower Beer Garden (Sapporo City)

The Sapporo TV Tower Beer Garden, popular for its grilled and edible Genghis Khan in Odori Park, will be running for a long 109 days this year. While grilling Genghis Khan, toast with a Hokkaido-exclusive Sapporo Classic! Enjoying a summer moment quintessentially Sapporo, right beneath the Sapporo TV Tower, is an exceptional experience.

6 Enjoy domestic and international whiskey and spirits at "HOKKAIDO WHISKY & SPIRITS FEST" (Sapporo City)

The whiskey and spirits festival will be held on an expanded scale from 2024. Many distilleries, liquor stores, bars, and more will be exhibiting. Many bottles will be lined up at the booths, and you can enjoy tastings for free or for a fee. Some booths will also offer food services. Talks will also be held with invited representatives from popular distilleries.

7 Tasting and comparing Takikawa's local beers at the "Takikawa Craft Beer Festival 2025" (Takikawa City)

When it comes to local beer in Takikawa, there are Sorachi Ale, Sorachi Weizen, Sorachi Pilsner, and Apple & Dry from Takikawa Craft Beer Kobo. In addition to enjoying these beers, you can also sample a variety of gourmet foods from restaurants in the city.

8 Enjoy three days of summer fun along the Chitose River at the "CHITOSE RIVER CITY PROJECT x Chitose River Beer Festival" (Chitose City)

This beer festival is held along the Chitose River. In addition to taking a break at the beer garden or open cafe, there are also river rafting rides and a variety of stage events, making it a fun day out with family and friends. It's an open-minded event unique to Chitose, where nature and bustle blend together.

9 An event that ended in 2024 will be revived at Miyakodori Shopping Arcade: "Otaru Wine Carnival in Miyakodori Shopping Arcade" (Otaru City)

The wine event, which was held at the Steam Locomotive Square across from Hokkaido Wine's headquarters until 2024, will be restarted at the Otaru Miyakodori Shopping Arcade from 2025. The new venue is easily accessible to both local residents and tourists, allowing you to enjoy a stroll through the streets of Otaru while tasting Hokkaido wine.

10 Toast in Tomamu's vast farm area! "Farm Beer Garden" (Shukuba Village)

This event takes place in a vast farm area of approximately 100 hectares, where you can taste special beers that can only be found in Tomamu. They offer "MILK HOP," an original craft beer made by combining IPA and Tomamu milk, as well as "HOP CORN," a snack made with hops. Of course, admission is free even for those not staying overnight, so you can enjoy it on a day trip.

The Sapporo Excel Hotel Tokyu, located near Nakajima Park, is hosting a beer garden that will liven up Sapporo's summers again this year. Refresh yourself on the open-air garden terrace with a cold draft beer in hand. Every Monday in July, 1-pound steaks will be half price! Also, during the "Okinawa Fair" that will be held from July 19th (Sat) to 31st (Thu), Orion Beer will be added to the all-you-can-drink menu.

12 Park Garden (Sapporo City) is a popular spot where you can enjoy fireworks and spend time with your dog.

This annual summer beer garden is held at the Sapporo Park Hotel near Nakajima Park. It offers a variety of unique spaces, including a "tent area" where you can enjoy a glamping-like atmosphere, a "dog-friendly area" where you can spend time with your beloved dog, and a "fireworks area" where you can enjoy fireworks with your children.

13 A luxurious beer garden where you can enjoy seasonal Hokkaido cuisine at a hotel: "Beer Garden 2025 Chef's Table 'Freshly Picked Hokkaido'" (Chitose City)

The beer garden at ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel Chitose offers dishes made with an abundance of seasonal Hokkaido produce. In addition to a wide variety of menu items, such as camp food "Grilled Cabbage with Meat Sauce" and "Atka Mackerel Acquapazza," perfect for drinking, you can also enjoy "Hamon Serrano" cut right in front of you by the chef. As for drinks, there is a wide selection available, including beer, wine, the original Chitose Highball, and homemade craft cola.

14 The theme is Southern France - the venue is an elegant hotel courtyard, "La Terrasse du Provence" (Sapporo)

The venue is the terrace space in the courtyard of Mercure Sapporo. The food on offer includes a "meat plate" featuring Hokkaido roast beef and duck confit, as well as a "Provençal-style hors d'oeuvres buffet" featuring ratatouille, moules frites, escabeche, and more. Drinks include a wide selection of red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines, as well as draft beer, cocktails, and soft drinks.

15 "Shin Mikasa Wine Festival 2025" (Mikasa City) brings together wines and gourmet food from Sorachi, including wineries in Mikasa

This event allows you to enjoy the fine wines and gourmet food of the Sorachi area, including wineries in Mikasa such as Yamazaki Winery, Takizawa Winery, and Hamada Vineyard. There will also be a variety of events, including food trucks, live music, and a general goods market.

16 Enjoy Kirin Beer, which has a factory in Chitose, and YOSAKOI at the 2025 Sky Beer & YOSAKOI Festival (Chitose City)

This event allows you to enjoy the passionate performances of YOSAKOI teams from all over Hokkaido, as well as gourmet food, including Kirin Beer, which has its Chitose Factory. The YOSAKOI Soran Chitose Tournament will be held on Sunday the 20th. Other events include Fighters Girl on Saturday the 19th, and the dance and vocal group "ambitious" on Monday the 21st.

17 Tasting local Sapporo wine and local cuisine at Hitsujigaoka Observatory "Sake, Snacks and Sweets FES" (Sapporo City)

This event allows you to enjoy Sapporo's local wines, such as those from Hakkenzan Winery and Sapporo Wine, as well as food that is unique to Sapporo. The event is held at Hitsujigaoka Observatory, which offers a panoramic view of Sapporo, and is recommended not only for tourists but also for Sapporo residents, who can receive special discounts.

18 The popular Southern Hokkaido craft beer tasting set "2025 SUMMER Southern Hokkaido Craft Beer Garden in Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station" (Hokuto City)

This annual summer outdoor beer event brings together popular breweries from southern Hokkaido in front of Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station. The popular "Southern Hokkaido Craft Beer Tasting Set" includes beers from Endeavour, a brewery in Hakodate's Yukawa Onsen, as well as Onuma Beer, Ozigi Brewing, and Hakodate Beer. With food and stage events, it's a two-day event that's irresistible for fans of southern Hokkaido beer.

19 Enjoy Sorachi Wine to your heart's content at "Sorachi Wine x Wine Festa 2025" (Takikawa City)

There will be tickets to compare wines from wineries such as Ebeotsu Wein in Takikawa City, talks by producers, jazz performances, and a raffle with fantastic prizes. You can enjoy wines from Sorachi to your heart's content.

20 A festival celebrating the Furano Wine grape harvest: "Furano Wine Grape Festival 2025" (Furano City)

This autumn festival in Furano celebrates the grape harvest for Furano Wine. In addition to the world-renowned Furano wine, you can also enjoy rich grape juice and the festival's specialty cheese fondue.

twenty one "Run while tasting the bounty of Niki" "Niki Fruit & Wine Maranic 2025" (Niki Town)

This is a rare marathon event in Japan where you can "eat, drink and run" and enjoy the fruits and wine of Niki Town. Local fruits and Niki wine and juice will be provided at aid stations along the course that takes you through the town's rich natural environment.
