The "Makomanai Fireworks Festival," a major event representing Sapporo's summer, is back again this year. Over 22,000 fireworks, the largest display in Sapporo, will fill the night sky. The dynamic production, created by pyrotechnicians active in global competitions, features fireworks synchronized with music, lighting, and flames, creating a beauty that will give you goosebumps. This year, a new free viewing area will be established, complete with food stalls serving freshly made gourmet treats.

4,000 Moving Fireworks Lighting Up the Toyohira River Night Sky: "Doshin-UHB Fireworks Festival 2026" (Sapporo)
A popular fireworks festival long-loved by citizens and tourists as a harbinger of Sapporo's summer. From the banks of the Toyohira River, which flows through the city, about 4,000 fireworks, including gorgeous starmines and powerful aerial shells, will brilliantly color the night sky. This year, the venue layout has been updated, and a ticketing system will be introduced for some areas.

Enjoy Dynamic Dances and Fireworks at Otaru's Biggest Festival: "The 60th Otaru Ushio Festival" (Otaru)
This is the largest citizen-participation event representing summer in Otaru. Starting with the "Ushio Furekomi" on the first day, the festival is packed with highlights, including the "Ushio Nerikomi" on the second day, where a large crowd parades through the streets to the tune of the Ushio Ondo song, and the majestic "Mikoshi Parade" on the final day. The grand finale on the last day is the "Grand Fireworks Display," which romantically colors the night sky over Otaru Port. A City-wide Celebration with Brilliant Fireworks Synced to Music and Traditional Dances: "The 167th Anniversary Hakodate Port Festival" (Hakodate)
The largest festival symbolizing summer in Hakodate, where the entire city is filled with diverse excitement. A fireworks display is held on the first night, with powerful fireworks launched from Midori no Shima island, heralding the festival's opening along with music. In the main parade "Wasshoi Hakodate" on the second and third days, many citizens dance alongside portable shrines and gorgeous floats, and the excitement peaks with the famous "Hakodate Ika Odori" (Squid Dance), which anyone can join. About 50 Food Stalls and 4,000 Fireworks! Northern Hokkaido's Premier Event: "Asahikawa Summer Festival & The 74th Doshin Noryo Fireworks Festival" (Asahikawa)
A summer festival that attracts over 500,000 visitors over three days, making it one of the most exciting events in the Northern Hokkaido area. On the first night, the "Doshin Noryo Fireworks Festival" takes place on the banks of the Ishikari River by Asahibashi Bridge, where about 4,000 fireworks, including various creative shells and gorgeous starmines, vividly color the night sky. The following days are also packed with highlights, including a dance parade with about 2,000 participants, a powerful mikoshi procession, the energetic "Rekka Tanabata Festival," and food stalls gathering in the entertainment district.

Hokkaido's Largest San-shaku-dama Shell! A Festival of Gourmet Food and Giant Fireworks in Autumnal Kushiro: "The 23rd Kushiro Tairyo Donpaku" (Kushiro)
A very popular event that combines delicious flavors unique to the port town of Kushiro with fireworks. The main attraction is the breathtaking san-shaku-dama (three-foot shell), Hokkaido's largest, launched from the mouth of the Kushiro River. The moment the giant 600-meter diameter flower blooms in the night sky, a thunderous roar echoes through the venue, delivering a stunning impact. A popular summer event where about 7,000 brilliant fireworks dynamically color the night sky, set against the backdrop of Hokuseiyama, a hill covered in beautiful lavender. The largest summer festival in Muroran, where the city buzzes with the most excitement. A popular festival featuring the only port-based fireworks in the Tokachi area. At night, about 7,000 fireworks, including starmines and beautiful underwater fireworks that reflect light dazzlingly on the sea surface, are launched from up close, offering an overwhelming sense of immersion unique to a port town. During the day, a bazaar opens where you can savor local products like fried shishamo smelt and grilled whelk. This year, to celebrate the 70th anniversary, there will be a variety of special events, including character shows, comedy live shows by popular comedians, and a sea breeze sauna festival.
