What is the Sapporo Odori Beer Garden?

The Sapporo Odori Beer Garden is one of Japan's largest beer gardens, with over 10,000 seats set up in the spacious Odori Park, attracting 984,000 visitors in 2025. This event, which started in 1959 as the "Noryo Garden" (Cooling-off Garden), allows you to enjoy a summer day with beer to your heart's content. In 2026, it will run for 27 days from Thursday, July 23 to Tuesday, August 18. This year, it will again be held as part of the Sapporo Summer Festival.

The Suntory The PREMIUM MALT'S Garden at Nishi 5-chome is in a prime location, just a 1-minute walk from Odori subway station. This year, they've introduced large tents for the reserved seating area. A new counter booth has also been set up, making it perfect for solo visitors or small groups. Mobile ordering is available at all seats, which not only saves you the hassle of buying tickets but is also incredibly convenient as staff will bring your food and drinks directly to your table.

This year again, you can enjoy dishes supervised by Chef Shin Shimokuni, the first-ever champion of the "CHEF-1 Grand Prix." The menu is packed with cold and hot appetizers that pair perfectly with beer, including the "Deluxe Set" which features recommended items like pizza and fries, and Chef Shimokuni's supervised "Special Miso-Marinated Black Pork Offal Teppanyaki with a Citrus Herb Flavor," a perfect match for Suntory's pride, The Premium Malt's.

The ASAHI SUPER DRY BEER PARK at Nishi 6-chome is in a perfect location to enjoy a beer in the shade of the trees. At this venue, you can savor fresh draft beer brewed at Sapporo's only large-scale brewery in Shiroishi-ku. Additionally, this year sees the debut of the "NIKKA STAND," where you can enjoy premium highballs made with Taketsuru and Yoichi whiskies.

The "Asahi Super Dry Extra Cold," with its absolute focus on coldness, is back again this year. This sub-zero Asahi Super Dry is served in an aluminum "Kinkin Tumbler" that lets you experience an overwhelming chill. Enjoy the "Kinkin DRY" sensation the moment you hold it and the moment it hits your lips.

At the KIRIN ICHIBAN Garden in Nishi 7-chome, the popular reserved seating area offers over 300 seats inside a large tent. You can also enjoy watching the food being prepared at the live kitchen while you wait. Another great feature is that staff will deliver all orders, including drinks and food, directly to your seat.

The food menu features freshly prepared dishes like the Kirin Beer Garden's fresh lamb Genghis Khan (Mongolian BBQ), authentic brick-oven pizza, and Muroran yakitori (pork skewers). For groups of three or more, there's also a course available that includes a mini appetizer platter and all-you-can-drink from a selection of six beers and soft drinks.

THE Sapporo BEER GARDEN at Nishi 8-chome is a special beer garden where you can experience all of Hokkaido. The large, all-weather tent remains, and they've added more two-person tables for smaller groups. This year, Sapporo Beer celebrates its 150th anniversary, and to mark the occasion, "Sapporo Classic FRONTIER MEMORIAL" and "Kaitakushi Furano Citrus" will be available for a limited time and in limited quantities.

The live kitchen booths, where you can enjoy hot Hokkaido delicacies like "Otaru Ankake Yakisoba" (fried noodles with starchy sauce), "Otaru Ushio Zangi" (salt-based fried chicken), and "Sapporo Beer Garden Genghis Khan," are back from last year. Enjoy them with a delicious draft beer poured in a single, perfect pour by the staff of Sapporo Lion.

At the World Beer Square in Nishi 10-chome, you'll find a fantastic lineup of beers from around the globe, including international draft and bottled beers, as well as craft beers from Hokkaido. The popular "Choose Your Own!! Beer Flight Set" lets you select three different international draft beers, allowing you to experience the different tastes and characteristics of beers from various countries.

Furthermore, breweries from within Hokkaido will also be present. The food corner offers a variety of international gourmet dishes and meat specialties that pair perfectly with beer, such as pizza, paella, Genghis Khan, and grilled scallops.

At the Sapporo German Village in Nishi 11-chome, you can enjoy draft beer from Hofbräu, an official brewery of the world's largest beer festival, Oktoberfest. Savor the rich aroma and deep flavor of draft beer imported directly from Germany. The venue features tables with parasols and tented seating, as well as a standing bar area and reservable sofa seats. The entire venue has a spacious layout perfect for relaxing.

In addition to German beer, a wide variety of drinks are available, including wine, chuhai, non-alcoholic beer, "Kodomo Biiru" (a non-alcoholic kids' beer), and soft drinks. The food menu is also extensive, featuring authentic German flavors like sausages and Eisbein (pickled ham hock).
