Kingmu established a major disco boom in Sapporo from the bubble era. after opening in 1991, it closed once in 2008. Then in April 2016, it was relaunched as a "theme park-type dance club KING∞XMHU." Although it was used by more than 1 million people over a seven-year period, it closed again in May 2023. While the unique exterior of the building is being demolished to make way for redevelopment, there is also a volunteer effort to preserve the building.

The Pearl Mondor Minami 6-jo store boasts a history of more than half a century since 1975. The authentic western-style confectionery store's unchanged delicious confections have been loved by many people. The reason for closing the store was due to the aging of the building and changes in lifestyle. However, the taste of Pearl Mondor will never disappear, and the same taste can now be enjoyed at the Pearl Mondor Nijushiken store.

As of today, November 30, Sapporo Curry Pao has closed its business.

The year 2023 in Sapporo's Nishi-ku/Kotoni area saw a series of closures of well-known restaurants. Pao, with its pink elephant as a landmark, was one of the representative restaurants of the soup curry boom of the 2000s. It was loved by many curry fans and local residents for a long time, but regrettably closed its doors in November due to the aging of the building.

December 30, 2023: Minamisawa Confectionery (Ashibetsu City)

Minamisawa Kashiho, established in 1913, is a representative confectionary store in Ashibetsu known for its famous Ashibetsu sweets "Doriko Manju" and nostalgic tasting bread. Unfortunately, due to a combination of multiple reasons, including rising costs of raw materials and equipment, and health issues of the owner, the store will close on December 30, 2023. The store is still visited by local residents who regret its closure.

Following Pao, the closing of Tontontei was big news in the Sapporo Nishi-ku/Kotoni area. The all-you-can-eat menu was popular and many people must have enjoyed it in their younger days. all-you-can-eat will end on December 30, 2023, but take-out sales are scheduled to resume after the restaurant relocates, and many people are looking forward to this.
