What is "Yama Oyaji"?
Yama Oyaji" is the signature product of Sapporo Senjuan, a long-established confectionery manufacturer in Hokkaido, and has been a long-selling product loved by the people of Hokkaido for 94 years since its launch in 1930. It is a Western-style rice cracker made with carefully selected butter and milk, with an image of a bear wearing a ski board carrying a salmon on its back dug into the cracker.
The new design is based on "the commercial.
Yama Oyaji" has been redesigned from the traditional black can to a package that evokes the clear winter air. The new design depicts a bear carrying a bamboo leaf and salmon on his back, as seen in the old commercial, skiing down a snow-covered mountain. The package seems to bring back memories of the days when the commercial was running.

The TV commercial has been revived along with the package renewal! The singer, YUKI, a singer from Hakodate City who is also known as the vocalist of the former JUDY AND MARY, will sing "It came out, it came out, it came out, old man Yama oyaji♪"! The music arrangement is by Yoshinori Tsutaya, a music producer from Sapporo who has worked with many famous artists, making this a splendid tag team with ties to Hokkaido.

After all that time, when I was asked if I would sing this song for the commercial, I was surprised to hear Gatsupo's voice. I was gut-punched when I was asked to sing this song for the commercial. And I immediately e-mailed Mr. Tsutaya. He is the only person who can truly understand this song! I thought. I am so glad that you skied with the pride of a Hokkaido boy, Yama Oyaji. I hope your whole family can see it.
