Mr. Abiko has photographed diamond dust many times in the past.

The video was shot by Yoshihiro Abiko, a photographer based in Kamifurano. He successfully captured the phenomenon around 7:15 AM on a very cold morning, after visiting several locations within the town. Speaking about the beauty of the diamond dust, Mr. Abiko says, "I've seen diamond dust many times before, but it gives me goosebumps and moves me every single time." He enjoyed its beauty in a quiet place where he encountered almost no one else.

He incredibly succeeded in capturing diamond dust again the very next day.

Diamond dust is a natural phenomenon that occurs when water vapor in the atmosphere freezes at temperatures of minus 10°C (14°F) or below, and the resulting ice crystals reflect sunlight. It is particularly common during severe cold spells of minus 15°C (5°F) or below and can sometimes be seen on clear, windless mornings. It can be witnessed in Hokkaido's Furano region from January to February, and Mr. Abiko has captured its beauty on numerous occasions.
