A hot dog vendor from Hokkaido, a huge fan of the popular idol group Momoiro Clover Z, set up a stall at one of their live events. Unfortunately, the second day was canceled, leaving them with a massive stock of unsold hot dogs. After posting their despair on social media, what happened next was truly incredible.

On the verge of despair with unsold hot dogs... and then what!?

In April 2025, "Machigaine Ezo Base" traveled from Kamikawa, Hokkaido, to sell their hot dogs at the "Momoclo Haru no Ichidaiji 2025 in Shibata City" event held in Niigata Prefecture. The owner, a long-time fan of Momoiro Clover Z, was excited to be there, but the second day of the event was canceled due to strong winds. This left them with 300 handmade hot dogs that were supposed to be sold.

Heartbroken, they posted on social media, "It's so painful to have to throw away something we worked so hard to make." Seeing the post, a local resident immediately started looking for a place to distribute the food. As a result, the historic Omon Sake Brewery generously offered a space. A free hot dog giveaway was set up inside their shop near the event venue.

Word spread, and Momoiro Clover Z fans, known as "Mononofu," flocked to the location. On social media, fans created the hashtag "#EvenIfCanceledItsStillASpringAffairInShibata," and a flood of warm comments poured in, such as "If you're in the area, please go!", "They're seriously delicious!", and "Please come back and set up a stall again!"

Although they couldn't give away everything, Machigaine Ezo Base managed to avoid having to dispose of their entire stock. On their X account, they expressed their gratitude: "Thank you to everyone at Omon Brewery, to everyone who came for hot dogs, to everyone who spread the word, and to everyone who was concerned for us." They added, "It really made me think that Mononofu are the best."

The hot dogs from Machigaine Ezo Base, praised by the fans who rushed to the scene, are a specialty item made with care, from the bread and sausage to the chili meat. They often set up stalls at various sports venues in Hokkaido and music festivals nationwide.
