函館市民から｢八幡様｣として親しまれている函館八幡宮の祭り。祭りのクライマックスは、隔年(偶数年)で開催される重さ約1.５5トンの大神輿(函館市指定文化財)による130段あまりの｢石段かけのぼり｣。その迫力に沿道から大きな拍手が送られます。
