To commemorate the 100th anniversary of wooden bear carvings, we will be holding an event once a month from May to October.

Generally, the event is held on the last Sunday of each month (in August it will be a talk event on Saturday the 31st with guests from other institutions, and in October it will be a national holiday on Monday the 14th) from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Yakumo Town Community Center. A lecture by a curator about the wooden carvings and the makers will then be held, followed by an opportunity to view wooden carvings of bears brought by participants.

■About the lecture
The event will last about 45 minutes and will include an introduction to the history of wooden bear carvings and the makers of the carved pieces.
In May, we will take a brief look back at the history of wooden carved bears from their origins to the present day.
From June onwards, we will set themes in response to participants' requests.

■About the viewing party
Participants will be asked to bring one wooden carved bear each, which will be viewed by the group and information provided such as where it was made and who the artist was.
