アイヌ語でチプサンケとは「舟おろし」を意味し、 古来から伝わる技法で作られた舟の進水の儀式です。 沙流川で行われる伝統行事で、アイヌの人々の生活習慣がしのばれる興味深い行事です。例年、アイヌ文化の伝統行事の１つであるチプサンケを体験しようと多くの観光客が参加します。
