This Northern Territories Awareness Center is located on a hill near the center of Rausu Town, a World Heritage Site in Shiretoko. From the observation deck, located 167 meters above sea level, you can get a magnificent view of the center of Rausu Town and the Northern Territories and Kunashiri Island. Parts of the facility are closed during the New Year holidays, but the rooftop observation deck is open, where you can see the first sunrise of the year. Depending on the season, it is a great observation spot where you can also see whales and drifting ice.
