Overview

The 2025 27th Moekko Harumachi Sato event will be held to welcome spring to Rumoi. The event will include a gourmet street, a big raffle, and a Moekko Bamba race.

The Moekko Bamba Race, where people show off their strength, draws cheers from the crowd as they watch the spirited contestants. This is a courageous snow race in which teams pull a 700kg herring boat to the finish line, with the intention of passing on the history and culture of Rumoi, which prospered through herring fishing, and praying for a large catch of herring, also known as the herring that heralds the spring.
