Ainu crafts in Nibutani, Biratori Town: inheriting traditions and creating new forms

An event will be held at the Kita 3-jo Plaza in the Sapporo Ekimae-dori Underground Walkway (Chi-Ka-Ho) where you can see and purchase Ainu crafts from Nibutani, Biratori-cho, Hokkaido. In addition to traditional crafts, products developed in this project and various works and products by artists from Biratori-cho will be exhibited and sold. There will also be demonstrations of the making of "Nibutani Ita" and "Nibutani Attusi", as well as a woodcarving workshop. Please come along.

1. Display and sale of developed products
In addition to new plates and placemats, works from previous years will also be on sale.
2. Production demonstration

3. Live performance
Ainu pattern drawing / Ainu craft artist Maki Sekine
*For those who spend 10,000 yen or more (excluding tax/non-food products) at the venue, we will be offering a special gift of an impromptu Ainu pattern drawing by Maki Sekine, limited to 10 people per day. You will take home a jute bag with the pattern drawn on it.
4. Workshop
A woodcarving workshop by a craftsman (free to participate). You can carve an Ainu pattern into a coaster and take the finished product home with you.
Time: ①11:30~, ②14:00~, ③15:30~
Capacity: 5 people per session *For 4th grade and above
Duration: Approximately 60 to 70 minutes
Application: Numbered tickets will be distributed from 11:00 each day
5. Sales of crafts and local products
We sell Ainu crafts from Nibutani, as well as modern products and local products.
6. Hometown Tax Promotion Corner
Ainu crafts will now be added to the list of return gifts, further promoting the wide-ranging and fulfilling hometown tax donation program in Biratori Town, and payments will also be accepted at the venue.
7. Visitor Survey
A survey will be conducted. The first 100 people to respond will receive a novelty gift each day.
