Kamuysaurus Spring Break Special Exhibition
Date and Time
2025/3/22~4/6
10:00~17:00
NHK Sapporo Broadcasting Station and Hokkaido University Museum have been working together since January 2024 to restore the missing parts of Kamuysaurus and develop educational content. For one year, starting in March of this year, which marks the 100th anniversary of broadcasting, the entire Kamuysaurus skeleton, with its missing parts completely restored, will be exhibited and made public at NHK Sapporo Broadcasting Station.
In conjunction with this exhibit, we will be holding the "Complete Restoration of the 'God of Japanese Dinosaurs'! Kamuysaurus Spring Break Special Exhibition." In addition to exhibiting real fossils and specimens of prehistoric creatures that lived in the same era as Kamuysaurus, we will be holding a variety of events to stimulate your curiosity, such as a public recording of the radio program "Children's Science Telephone Advice," featuring dinosaur and animal experts, and a corner that will reveal the secrets of Kamuysaurus.

■Complete version! Kamuysaurus full body assembled skeleton (on display until March 2026)
Kamuysaurus is a miraculous dinosaur, with approximately 70% of its fossils excavated in Mukawa, Hokkaido. This time, the remaining 30% of the missing parts will be restored, and the world's first "complete" Kamuysaurus full-body assembled skeleton will be exhibited. In addition, the 8K public studio will show an exhibit introducing the excavation process and a CG video of the restored skeleton. You can experience the power of Kamuysaurus, which boasts the largest full-body skeleton of any Japanese dinosaur.
■ Actual fossils and specimens of Kamuysaurus and related fossils (exhibited only during the spring break special exhibition)
The museum will display the fossils (actual object) of Kamuysaurus, as well as fossils (actual object) and specimens of other prehistoric creatures that lived in the same Cretaceous period, such as Mosasaurus and Tarbosaurus. You can actually touch some of the exhibits!
■ Public recording of the radio program "Children's Science Telephone Consultation" (advance registration required)
The popular radio program is coming! Professor Yoshitsugu Kobayashi, who named "Kamuysaurus" and is leading this restoration project, and Professor Masao Kosuge, who is "the man when it comes to animals!" will answer questions about dinosaurs and animals. Please note that those who wish to participate must apply in advance.
