From the 17th to the 19th centuries, the indigenous peoples of Hokkaido, Sakhalin, and the Russian Far East distributed a variety of goods through a network known as the Santan trade, and this trade route is also known as the "Silk Road of Northeast Asia." Representative items brought through this network were Chinese official uniforms, such as Ezo nishiki and Santan clothing, and bolts of cloth for them.

This exhibition will focus on the Ezo Nishiki and Santan clothing, as well as introduce Chinese products that were brought to Ainu culture, such as glass beads and coins, and the exchanges between the Ainu and other indigenous peoples.
