Overview

This year's theme is "A Town Soaring with Christmas." The jumbo Christmas tree, which has been set up every year since Sapporo Factory opened in 1993 and will be making its 33rd appearance this year, is a Japanese Sakhalin fir donated by Hiroo Town, Hiroo County, Hokkaido, and decorated with LED lights and ornaments. A lighting ceremony will be held to light the tree for the first time.

At the lighting ceremony, 10 "Light Up Kids" selected from a public contest, three "Hiroo Kids Santas," and Hiroo Mayor Yasuaki Tanaka will count down as they press the light switch. The atrium's Christmas arch and ceiling drape lights will light up all at once, and a show of light and music will brighten up the winter night.
