In the Hiyama region, located in the southwestern part of Hokkaido, population decline and an aging society with a low birthrate are progressing faster than in the rest of the prefecture, facing various challenges such as a shortage of workers in the community and society, and a shrinking economy and market size. Amidst this, the Hokkaido Hiyama Subprefectural Bureau, aiming for the settlement of young people and future UIJ turns, is implementing a community-school collaboration* project in cooperation with the Hiyama Education Bureau and high schools within its jurisdiction as an initiative to foster civic pride among the youth by promoting cooperation and exchange between schools and the community and encouraging students to discover new value in the region.

This time, in co-sponsorship with Hokkaido Kaminokuni High School, we will hold lectures and other events on the theme of community exploration activities as detailed below.

*What is community-school collaboration... It refers to various activities conducted through the cooperation and collaboration of the community and schools to support the learning and growth of children throughout the entire community. With children's growth as the central axis, as the community and schools exchange opinions and learn from each other, the connections among local residents also strengthen, leading to the construction and revitalization of the foundation for a self-reliant local society.
