The Monbetsu Port Festival's predecessor was the 'Port Festival,' an event held since before the war to give thanks for the blessings received from Monbetsu Port. In 1954, it became the 'Municipal Administration Commemorative Port Festival,' and the following year, 1955, it was renamed the 'Monbetsu Tourism Port Festival,' with the first event held under this name and with enriched content. Around the former station-front street, in addition to over 100 stalls, various events are held, such as on a special stage and in the Honcho 4-chome pedestrian paradise, and the main attraction is the 'Okhotsk Fireworks Festival.' Fireworks launched from Monbetsu Port will brilliantly color the Okhotsk sea and night sky.
