A traditional Shinto ritual in the town of Biei, which inherits the 'Nachi Fire Festival' from Kumano Nachi Taisha Grand Shrine in Wakayama Prefecture. Bearers in white garments carry blazing giant torches on their shoulders and parade to Biei Shrine with the chant of 'Ourya'. It is a festival enveloped in the power of the flames and a sacred atmosphere.
