Special Lecture 'The Migratory Birds of Kiritappu -For Protecting Them as a Community-'

Date and Time

2026/6/13

13:00

The Kiritappu Wetland Center will hold a lecture on the migratory birds that come to the Kiritappu Wetland and Hamanaka-cho, starting from 13:00 on 6/13 (Sat). The lectures will be given by Mr. Yusuke Sawa, a researcher at the Yamashina Institute for Ornithology, and Mr. Kaoru Fujii of the NPO Notsuke Eco Network. Researcher Sawa began his research on the Kokugan (Brent Goose) after visiting their breeding grounds in the Lena Delta, Russia. He tracks the migration routes of the Kokugan, and his field of research extends not only to Japan but to various parts of the world.

In Hamanaka-cho as well, during the winter migration period around December and after February, you can observe Kokugan swimming on the beach in search of Amamo (eelgrass). Although the mysteries of the Kokugan's life are gradually being revealed, we will explore the unending questions about the Kokugan together with Researcher Sawa.
