Let's protect the wetlands! 'Horomui Nature Restoration Area Field Tour'
Date and Time
2026/7/12
9:30-11:30 *The event will be held in light rain.
A cradle of life where various creatures live. Wetlands also control floods and climate change, and nurture delicious food from rivers and the sea. However, wetlands are now decreasing at three times the speed of forests, and an astonishing 99.99% have disappeared in the Ishikari River basin. To improve this situation even a little, at the 'Horomui Nature Restoration Area' where wetland restoration is being carried out, you will participate in observing the flowers blooming in the wetlands and in restoration activities, and you will also create a cultivation kit to grow sphagnum moss, which is essential for wetland restoration, at home.
Each person will take their kit home, and can participate in wetland restoration activities while feeling the wetlands and the sea close by. Also, you will be able to drink bog-myrtle water to enjoy the scent of the wetlands.
