Shibecha Town Museum - Nitai To -
A museum where you can learn about the nature and history of Shibecha Town
This museum newly opened on Sunday, July 1, 2018. In Ainu language, "Nitai" means forest and "To" means lake, giving it a name unique to Tangoro, which is surrounded by forests and lakes. There are a total of six exhibition rooms, displaying insect specimens donated by Mr. Kazuo Iijima, an insect researcher from Shibecha Town, the history of Shibecha Town from the Jomon Period to modern times, materials on Ainu culture, and dioramas of animals and plants living in the town's surroundings.
